| Role Summary | Responsible for assigning diagnostic and procedural codes for outpatient services across multiple medical specialties and ensuring coding accuracy and compliance. |
| Key Responsibilities | Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS codes, ensure compliance with regulations, use EHR systems and coding software, stay updated on coding guidelines, participate in audits, resolve coding queries, support revenue cycle management. |
| Required Certifications | CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) |
| Experience Required | Minimum 2+ years in facility/clinic coding including E/M and in-office procedures |
| Technical Skills | ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS coding, medical terminology, anatomy, multi-specialty coding, Cerner (EHR), Optum, 3M encoders |
| Other Skills | Analytical skills, attention to detail, communication skills, ability to meet deadlines, knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare compliance |
